1 SCOPE.
This specification defines the basic requirements for resin bonded, dry film piston lubricants. These coatings, when applied to the skirts of automotive pistons, am suitable for reducing friction, increasing scuff resistance, and improving the break-in characteristics of the mating surfaces. Therefore, these coatings can be used to improve fuel economy and durability, and reduce engine noise associated with piston/piston ring/cylinder wall interactions.
