Material Description. This specification covers the mixture of a two-part adhesive for primerless bonding of either fiber reinforced plastic (FRP) or sheet molding compound (SMC) panels to either FRP, primed steel or primed aluminum.

The adhesive system is comprised of a resin component 9986131 and a hardener component 9982264. The mixture of 9986131 and 9982264 is identified as 9986133.

This system must be capable of being metered, mixed and dispensed with current production equipment. It shall be compatible with production systems, including paint, and cannot be adversely affected by paint oven temperatures reaching 130 °C.

Applicability. The mixed adhesive is used to bond composite side aperture panels to the primed vehicle frame, or for similar composite bonding applications.

Remarks.

The mixed adhesive shall have an open time of 1.5 minutes.
