1 Scope

1.1 Material Description. This section covers initial factory fill engine oil for gasolinefueled pas senger cars and lightduty trucks. Oils must meet all requirements of the API Engine Oil Licensing and Certification System (EOLCS) for ILSAC GF3 certification, as specified in API Publication 1509, latest edition, plus a passing sequence IIIG and better low temperature performance, as described in section 3.2.3.

Note: Candidate submissions for approval against this specification must satisfy all requirements of API 1509 (latest edition), and must include a com plete American Chemical Council (previously called CMA) Candidate Data Package (with a complete description of the Formulation/stand coding system used) outlining all viscosity grade readacross, base oil interchange and minor formulation modifi cations utilized in engine sequence testing.
