Material Description.

This specification describes the material and performance requirements for tapes with a foamed carrier coated on both sides with an adhesive which is typically an acrylic based pressure sensitive type. This system is to be used primarily for the sealing and attachment of interior and exterior parts and/or assemblies. The adhesive surface, unless otherwise specified, shall be protected with a liner.

The following are the types of systems that are available under this specification:

Type I.

Type I products are double faced and include a yellow paper liner. These products also contain a scrim material within the core for added strength and to improve die cut-ability.

Type II.

Type II products are single faced and include a blue polyethylene film liner.

Type III.

Type III is single faced and includes a black polyester film backing.

All product types are dispensed in roll form and include pressure sensitive acrylic adhesives.

Typical Applications.

Sealing and Attachment Tape – Interior and Exterior.

Can be applied to interior and exterior parts, often without additional surface treatment.

Show high immediate adhesion strength and can be applied to complicated, rounded and/or rough surfaces.

Easy to use and dispense and maintains form at higher temperatures due to higher molecular weight composition.

Typical applications include attachment of interior trim, foam blocks to interior trim, attachment of wire harnesses to headliner materials, sealing and in applications where a reduction in noise is needed.
