This specification covers two types of nickel chloride salts intended primarily for use in nickel plating solutions. Type A corresponds approximately to the formula NiCl(2) · 6H(2) O. Type B is a higher purity product with composition falling between the limits represented by the formula NiCl(2) · 3H(2)O and NiCl(2) · 4H(2) O. One result of this higher purity is an increase in the amount of useful nickel obtained per gram of material procured (30.8/24.00, or about 125%, where a minimum Type B material is compared with a Type A material having the lowest % of nickel permitted).
