1.1 Scope.
All electronic control modules that are able to transmit and receive serial data information on a serial data bus (e.g., Class 2, GMLAN) that is connected to the data link connector shall meet the requirements described in this document. These requirements do not apply to modules that are only capable of receiving serial data information. This specification applies to modules of this type for new GM North America vehicle programs beginning with the 2003 model year.
