1 SCOPE.

This method of test is intended for estimating the relative ability of rubber or synthetic elastomer compounds to resist ozone attack at a concentration that may be encountered in the outdoor atmosphere but under statically controlled conditions. It is applicable to molded and extruded soft rubber materials and sponge rubber which has a smooth natural skin or solid rubber skin coating on the exposed surfaces. It is not applicable to materials ordinarily classed as hard rubber.
