2 SCOPE.
2.1 This specification applies to UNS G10050 (SAE 1005) to UNS G10100 (SAE 1010) carbon steel sheet and strip, bare and galvanized combinations approved by GM for products joined by linear laser lap welding. Its application is currently restricted, however, to metal combinations in which at least one metal thickness at the faying surface to be welded is less than or equal to 1.5mm in thickness. The welding requirements for metal combinations not covered by this specification shall be clearly specified on the weld drawing.
