This specification covers one type of non-reinforced flexible tubing for use in evaporative emissions sys-tems and vacuum systems and which is intended to withstand continuous service temperatures from —40 to +125 C. This material is not suitable for apple. cations in which it could be exposed to oxidized fuel or oxidized fuel mixtures (i.e. map sensor tubing).

Material Description.

Material Identification. 

Construction. The tubing shall consist of a single wall of non-blooming epichlorohydrin copoly-mer. Tubing shall be black. 

Tube Marking. The tubing shall be legibly marked with the following information in the sequence stated: Nominal inside diameter expressed as frac-tion of an inch (Ex,: 5/32), GM specification num-ber (GM6148M). date code, tube manufacturers code identification as designated by Rubber Manufacturers Association, and the manufacturing plant location code. Such marking shall be printed parallel to the axis in while or light blue block letters not less than 3 mm high and the open space between the specified markings shall not exceed 25 mm.

The date code shall consist of six doges the first two digits shall represent the month (01 through 12) of the year, the next two shall represent the day of the month (01 through 31), and the last two shall be the last two digits of the year

Parts conforming to this speahcabon which are too short for the marking required in 1.1.1.2 shall be marked as specified by the purchaser's engineer-ing department

Dimensions and Tolerances. Tubing fur-nished to this specification shall conform to the dimen-sions and tolerances shown in Table I for the size (nominal inside diameter) specified by the purchaser.

Note: Concenvicity based on total indicator reading between inside bore of outer surface of tube shall not exceed values given below:

Sizes over 6.35 mm (114 inch) up to 12 70 mm (112 inch) …… 1.0 mm

Sizes over 12.70 mm (12 inch) … 1.3 mm
