This specification covers one type of non-reinforced flexible tubing for use with gasoline, oil, or diesel fuel, and related evaporative and vacuum systems, and which is intended to withstand continuous service temperatures from -40 to +125 ºC.

Material Description.

Material Identification.

Construction. The tubing shall consist of a smoothbore tube of butadiene/acrylonitrile (NBR) copnlymer compound and a rover nrchlorastiltnnated polyethylene (CSM) or chlorinated polyethylene (CPE) compound. The cover may be perforated to facilitate degassing during manufacturing operations Tubing shall be black. 

Tube Marking. The tubing shall be legibly marked with the following information in the sequence staled Nominal inside cliamelei expressed as fiae-Hon of an inch (EX : 3/8), GM specification number (GM6150M), date code, tube manufacturers code identification as designated by Rubber Manufacturers Association, and the manufacturing plant location code. Such marking shall be printed parallel to the axis in vivid orange block letters not less than 3 mm high and the open space between the specified markings shall not exceed 25 mm

The date code shall consist of six digits. the first two digits shall represent the month (01 through 12) of the year, the next two shall represent the day of the month (01 through 31), and the Iasi Iwo shall be the last two digits of the year.

Parts conforming to this specification which are too short for the marking required in 1.1.1.2 shall he marked as specified by the purchaser's engineer ing department

Dimensions and Tolerances. Tubing fur-nished to this specifir.ahon shall conform to thedimen-sons and tolerances shown in Table 1 for the size (nominal inside diameter) specified by the purchaser (conforms to SAE J30 (SAE 30R1)) Note: Tube cover wall thickness shall be between 25 and 40 % of total wall thickness.

Note: Concentricity based on total indicator reading between inside bore of tubing and outer surface of tubing shall not exceed value given below:

Sizes 6.35 mm inch) and under . . . 0.8 mm

Sizes over 6.35 mm (1/4 inch) up to 12.70 mm(1.2 inch).... 1.0 mm

Sizes over 12.70 mm (1/2 inch) 1.3 mm
