1 SCOPE.

This specification covers the material and testing requirements of an automotive certification label that is protected from direct weathering and underhood conditions. The label must have a pressure sensitive adhesive on the back with built-in self-destruct and anti-counterfeit features and a footprint adhesive. Labels must be easily removed from the release liner with minimal effort and no damage to the label. The label must show a definite destruct pattern as part of the tamperproof feature. Information must be able to be printed or typed on the face material without the use of carbon paper backing and clear information windows. The label cannot be used underhood or in an area where it would come in contact with engine lubricants and fluids.
