This specification covers the materials and testing requirements for government regulated parts identification label that will be affixed to all major body panels and bumpers on select high theft vehicles.
Material Description.
Label shall consist of a coated polyester film with a thickness of 0.04 to 0.06 mm for computer text and designed for a specific printer.
A pressure sensitive acrylic adhesive with a minimum thickness of 0.025 mm must cover the entire reverse side of the label.
The backing paper must release the label without visible damage when the label is removed at a speed of 125 mm/sec max.
The surface of the coated film must have a Shefield smoothness of 50 [Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry (TAPPI) T-479M].
