1 Scope
1.1 Material Description. The specification covers the requirements for wrought aluminum alloy sheet for use as automotive body and closures panels. Typical applications include hoods and lift-gates. This specification is applicable to two types of wrought aluminum alloys; age hardenable and nonage hardenable. Age hardenable (e.g., 6000 series) aluminum alloys can be used for exposed and unexposed applications. Due to sur face characteristics, nonage hardenable (e.g., 5000 series) alloys may not be suitable for exposed applications.
