Material Description. This specification covers the performance requirements of a pumpable headlamp/taillamp adhesive/sealer.
Material Description.
Material Identification. There are two types of adhesive systems, Type I and Type II.
Type I. There are no additional mechanical fasteners used.
Type II. Additional mechanical retention (metal clips, plastic snap-in fasteners, etc.) is the primary fastening of the lens to the housing.
The adhesive/sealer can be either thermosetting (RTV silicone, moisture-cure urethane, two-part urethane, etc.) or thermoplastic (hot melt, butyl, etc.). The material shall not craze acrylic or polycarbonate.
The material must be capable of being dispensed with current production equipment. It shall be compatible with production systems.
Typical Applications. This material is used to bond/seal plastic lighting assembly lenses to housings.
