1 Scope

This specification covers a closedcell, crosslinked polyolefin alloy foam that has a fine, uniform cell structure. It can be used as a substitute for ex panded rubber foams in water, dust and air seal applications for both interior and exterior applica tions. It is available in diecut flat sheet form, or can be compression molded or thermoformed to provide shaped parts.

1.1 Material Description. A black elastomeric polyolefin alloy which has elastomeric properties as well as moderate resistance to ultraviolet light ex posure.

1.1.1 Material Identification.

1.1.1.1 Type I material is diecut from sheet foam that is sliced from bunstock.

1.1.1.2 Type II (A or B) materials are compression molded or thermoformed to make three dimen sional parts.

1.2 Typical Application. Air, dust and water seals where high compressibility is required to fill an uneven gap, and where low forces are required to minimize distortion of the mating parts.
