1 SCOPE.
This method measures the vibration-damping performance of extensional dampers on a cantilever test beam for a range of frquencies and temperatures. The results can be used to compare the performance of several dampers. For homogeneous damping materials the results can be used to obtain the material properties (material loss factor and Young¿s modulus) by using the appropriate equations in ASTM E756 provided the bare beam resonant frequencies have been measured over the temperature range.
