To establish a uniform procedure for determining tensile characteristics of safety belt anchor bolts are defined in Section S4.3 (C) (1) and S5.2 (C) of FMVSS 209 and Paragraph 13 of CMVSS 209.
FORWARD. This specification describes the method for determining the tensile strength of safety belt anchor bolts when pulled under simulated assembly condition.
APPLICABILITY. All passenger cars, truck, buses and multipurpose passenger vehicle equipped with a safety belt assembly using upper and/or lower attachment anchor bolts.
DEFINITIONS.
Safety belt assembly consists of any strap, webbing or similar device designed to secure an occupant in a motor vehicle with the intention of mitigating occupant injuries results, including all buckles or other fasteners, and all hardware designed for installing the assembly in a motor vehicle.
Anchor bolt fastener designed for securing upper and lower component parts of a belt assembly to a motor vehicle.
RESTRICTED AND REPORTABLE CHEMICALS (GM1000M). By 1997 start of saleable vehicles, all materials supplied to this specification must comply with the requirements listed in GM1000M, "Restricted and Reportable Chemicals."
