1 SCOPE.

This is a method for determining water in materials by co-distillatlon with trichloroethylene. While used primarily to determine moisture in phenolic molding materials, the test is not restricted in application and it may be used with any material which does not itself distill at the temperature of the boiling trichloroethylenc (87 c). The method is basal on the complete solubiity of the resin (and resinous portion of molding compounds) in the solvent mixture under reflux and the azeotropic distillation of water with trichloroethylcne.(87 C).
