This standard defines the requirements of a hot stamped die quenched low carbon alloy steel used in the manufacture of body reinforcement structural parts requiring high strength such as door impact beams and body structure components. This specification does not apply to pre-coated sheet steel.
Part sections supplied under this standard shall be made by austenitizing a pre-cut blank, hot stamping the heated blank, and rapid cooling (quenching) the stamped part in the die. Parts shall be supplied oxide free and may be shot blasted following subsequent cooling of the part. To achieve dimensional stability, pre-forming operations may be necessary prior to hot-stamping the part.
Classification.
Note: Nothing in the specification supersedes applicable laws and regulations unless specific exemption has been obtained.
Note: In the event of conflict between the English and domestic language, the English language shall take precedence.
