Note: In the event of a conflict between the text of the test procedure and the documents cited herein, the text of the test procedure takes precedence. Nothing in the specification supersedes applicable laws and regulations unless specific exemption has been obtained.
Note: In the event of conflict between the English and domestic language, the English language shall take precedence.
Purpose.
To determine the abrasion resistance of seat covers used on lateral seat pads (fabric covers and imitation leather covers).
Foreword.
This procedure complements the following wear test procedures: GMW14365 (Jounce and Squirm), GMW14414 (Seat back trim, wear test), GMW14364 (Ingress/Egress/Jounce seat durability test). Sport seats shall be validated with the previously mentioned tests. This procedure aims to provide a more specific guideline to investigate a particular area under particular loading conditions (by means of an adapted testing stamp); i.e. a new sewing concept or new artificial leather.
The test can be conducted by means of a robot, as described in GMW14364 (Ingress/ Egress/ Jounce seat durability test), using a smaller angle (+-8° in total) and the number of rotation cycles indicated in this document, if not otherwise noted in the SSTS.
Note: This GMW has a limited validity and can be used in seats quoted until end 2008.
Applicability.
For all sport seats.
