Purpose. The purpose of this procedure is to define the tests that will determine if a vehicle meets the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS 208 S7.3) and Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS 208). Reference 1.3.1 for any updates to the standard and the applicability of this test to these updates.
Foreword. This specification covers the test requirements of FMVSS 208, amended 7/24/2007 S7.3 for Seat Belt Warning Systems and CMVSS 208 amended 8/13/2003. It does not apply to any type of automatic or motorized belting restraint system. If an automatic or motorized belting restraint system requires testing, contact the test information owner.
All components involved must have the latest production intent released level software and production intent Calibrations (Cal).
Applicability. This specification applies to US passenger cars, multipurpose passenger vehicles, trucks and busses that have a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of 4536 kg (10 000 lb) or less.
Legal Requirements. The FMVSS 208 requirements are found in the GM Global Legal Database, maintained by the GM North America Product Development (NAPD) Safety Regulations and Consumer Information department. The GM Global Legal Database contains the most recent statement of FMVSS and CMVSS requirements and supersedes those listed in any test procedure. Guidance for interpreting FMVSS and CMVSS requirements may be obtained from Safety Regulations and Consumer Information through the Validation Engineering Group.
Uniform Parts Codes (UPC). Comprehended in this procedure include Code 12F.
