ENGLISH HISTORICAL VERSION

The Hand Held Force Input Frequency Response Function (FRF) Acquisition Master Test Procedure, GMW14181, and the Transducer Calibration Master Test Procedure, GMW14172, shall be referenced for more detailed information corresponding to the following procedure.

Note: Nothing in the specification supersedes applicable laws and regulations unless specific exemption has been obtained.

Note: In the event of conflict between the English and domestic language, the English language shall take precedence.

Purpose.

Define the process for obtaining the drive point dynamic stiffness/mobility level of the secondary Air Injection Reaction (AIR) pump/bracket assembly at the vehicle attachment locations. These measurements are used to compare AIR attachment drive point dynamic stiffness/mobility to the specifications.

Foreword.

The attachment drive point dynamic stiffness/mobility of an isolated component is one of the factors affecting structure-borne noise. This quantity, with others, can be used to calculate forces into the body or to predict noise levels in the vehicle passenger compartment.

Applicability.

This test procedure is appropriate to use for all AIR pump and bracket assemblies. All passenger cars and light trucks with nonpowertrain mounted AIR pumps will use this test procedure.
