This standard defines the test conditions, test methods and requirements of protection covers for batteries (battery enclosure).

Note: Samples of components or material released to this specification shall be tested for conformity with the requirements of this specification and approved by Product Engineering prior to commencement of delivery of bulk supplies.

In the event of any intentional deviations from the requirements of this specification or the previously released samples, it is the sole responsibility of the supplier to inform the purchaser unsolicited with a documentation of all such deviations. Upon request the supplier shall submit samples of the changed version for reapproval by Product Engineering prior to commencement of delivery of deviant bulk supplies.

Mission/Theme. The cover is intended to protect the battery against cold temperatures. The environmental conditions in the engine compartment (e.g., high temperatures) must be taken in account for the cover design.
