Purpose. This procedure evaluates the structural durability of passenger car, sport utility vehicle and light truck exhaust system flexible pipes when subjected to real-time load and displacement profiles simulating proving ground road test modules.

Foreword. The validation of a flexible pipe requires the determination and evaluation of static flexible pipe force-displacement characteristics and a durability test. A road load data acquisition (RLDA) measurement of flex coupling movements is required to conduct the durability test.

Applicability. This procedure is applicable to all passenger cars, sport utility vehicles and light trucks equipped with a load-bearing or non loadbearing flexible pipe.
