This specification covers the requirements for a sheet vibration damping heat fusible material intended for use on inverted vertical or horizontal surfaces. The material may come in the form of a single layer, constrained layer or a multilayer composite.

Material Description.

Heat fusible bitumen pads which are applied on painted sheet metal in order to provide a damping effect on the body. Before the paint shop oven these mats are to be set on the specific places what generates the following classification.

Type I:

A standard bitumen material with a hot melt adhesive and can be applied in the paint shop.

Type II:

A magnetic material with a hot melt adhesive and can be applied in the paint shop. The magnetic strength shall not be less than 18 mT.

Type III:

A material which comes with a pressure sensitive adhesive on the attaching surface to enhance adhesion for difficult to bond areas.

Type IV:

The same as Type I or Type II materials except with an epoxy restraining layer to induce stiffening.
