This specification covers requirements for the galvanic corrosion protection of cast and forged aluminum chassis components, where the surface treatment requirements for the interfacing steel components are described.
Material Description. The coating systems used on all interfacing suspension components must be free of hexavalent chromium in the final product as per GMW3059 requirements.
Appendix A, Table A1 lists the preferred materials and surface treatment required for suspension components that come into contact with aluminum knuckles.
