Material Description. This specification covers the properties of black, heat stabilized, weatherable, thermoplastic vulcanizates containing fully crosslinked ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM) elastomer particles dispersed in a continuous polypropylene (PP) matrix. These materials are formulated to bond to vulcanized EPDM rubber and can be processed by injection molding. Type A materials are non-modified grades; Type B materials are modified grades (i.e., siloxane modified).

Material types are delineated by hardness values. The types and corresponding hardnesses available are identified in Appendix A, Table A1.

Symbols. The material abbreviation according to ISO 18064 is >TPV-(EPDM + PP)<.

Typical Applications. Typical applications include the following: weatherstrip corner molds and end caps.
