This standard will define the performance measurement conditions and the minimum durability specification for oil to air cooler used for transmission oil, engine oil or other oil cooling applications.

This standard defines the Auxiliary Oil Cooler (AOC) as the heat exchanger that transfers energy from various powertrain components to air .The AOC is to include the heat transfer surface, inlet and outlet fittings, and any other components attached to or part of the AOC completing the AOC assembly.

Mission/Theme. This standard replaces various regional standards with one worldwide standard for AOC.

Classification. This standard applies to all auxiliary oil coolers using air to dissipate heat from transmissions, engine, and other vehicle systems. Some requirements of this specification may be validated on the exact technology regardless of configuration, in lieu of application specific parts.
