Purpose. The purpose of this test procedure is to evaluate the pinion bearing used in a Rack and Pinion steering gear assembly.

Applicability. This procedure is applicable to all GM vehicles with Rack and Pinion steering gear pinion bearings that resist both axial and radial loads.

Remarks. This test provides a constant axial and cyclical load to the pinion bearing for component level validation. The axial and radial loads are calculated based on driver input torques.
