Purpose. The purpose of this test procedure is to document the methodology for acquiring on-road powertrain sound quality data.

Forward. This procedure is a guideline for measuring a vehicle's interior noise performance on road. Special emphasis has been given to noises produced by a hybrid vehicle's drivetrain components.

Applicability. This procedure applies to vehicle tests for all passenger vehicles (including hybrids), and light commercial vehicles.
