Material Description.

This standard covers properties of various types of glass fiber reinforced, heat stabilized, hydrolysis resistant polyphthalamide (PPA), injection moldable, and hot oil moldable.

Symbols. The material abbreviations according to SAE J1344 are shown in Table 1.

Applicability. Typical applications include cylinder head ports, and water pump housings. 

Remarks. The classification into groups is according to the different ranges of glass fiber content. See Replaced Specifications table after Section 9.
