Purpose.

This standard defines the testing methodology and requirements for validating both front and rear washer systems to GM requirements. Components for these systems include washer bottle, washer filler tube, filler tube seal, washer pumps, level sensor, washer hoses, check valves, washer nozzles, filter, tube filter and any attaching hardware.

This specification does not cover front windshield wiper components or rear wiper components, unless washer nozzle/hoses are attached to these system components.

This specification does not fulfill any GMW3172 requirements specified in the Subsystem Technical Specification (SSTS). A separate pump only test plan shall be developed with GM validation to meet GMW3172 requirements.
