Material Description. This specification defines grease composed of silicone oil and inorganic thickening agents (amorphous silica, lithium soap, or polytetrafluoroethylene).

Applicability. Grease defined by this specification may be used on cable connectors, battery terminals, dashboard gauges, rubber door seals, window regulator assemblies, brake calipers, ball joints, cables (trunk/tailgate, accelerator, hood, parking brake), gearshift controls, fuel filler lock doors, air conditioning (A/C) systems, headrests, and as plastic and elastomers assembly aids. 1.4 Remarks. Silicone grease is suitable for use with most plastics and elastomers. However, this grease should not be used with components made of silicone rubber. This grease will also slightly swell butyl rubber. Consult a materials compatibility chart for specific information.
