Purpose/Material Description.

This standard covers the requirements of weld filler metal also referred to as welding wire used in Body-in-White and Chassis welding and brazing operations.

Applicability.

This standard applies to the following welding and brazing processes; Gas Metal Arc Welding with solid wire electrode (GMAW), Metal Inert Gas welding with a solid wire electrode (MIG), Metal Active Gas welding with a solid wire electrode (MAG), Gas Metal Arc Brazing with a solid wire electrode (ABW) alternative acronym, see GMABW instead, Gas Tungsten Arc Brazing with solid wire (GTABW), Gas Metal Arc Braze Welding with solid wire electrode (GMABW), Plasma Arc Braze Welding with solid wire (PABW), Laser Beam Braze Welding with solid wire (LBBW), and Laser Beam Welding with a solid wire (LBW).

Usage.

Selection of weld and braze filler wire shall be in agreement with the regional welding wires identified for usage with the specified weld or braze process (see Table 1 through Table 5).
