Purpose. This test procedure covers an engine test for evaluating automotive engine oils for certain high temperature performance characteristics, including oil thickening, and piston deposits. Additionally, secondary requirements that shall be conducted include mini rotary viscometer measurements, cold cranking simulator measurements, and phosphorus retention measurements.

Applicability. This test is required for dexos®: Engine oil specification, GMW17332.

Remarks This test procedure specifies a General Motors Oxidation and Deposit (GMOD) test engine, test procedure, and test stand configuration items.
