Purpose. This standard covers supplier requirements for engine accessory drive electronically controlled belt tensioners. It is confined to the mechanical requirements common to all such tensioner designs. These tensioners are controlled electronically, but the controls and electronic components fall into two general classifications: those motor driven and those solenoid driven. The requirements that address the electrical components will be added to Appendix C of the application Statement of Requirements (SOR).

Applicability. This standard contains all information necessary to design, analyze, develop, validate, and manufacture accessory drive electronic belt tensioners as related to the mechanical subcomponents and the assembly.
