Purpose. This standard stipulates the requirements and validation tests for electric coolant pumps that are to be used in any coolant circuit.
Applicability. This standard is for 12 V electric coolant pumps for automotive applications.
Remarks. The electric main coolant pumps are magnetically coupled, centrifugal pumps intended to be used in an engine mounted configuration for powering the main engine cooling circuit, and ancillary systems, including but not limited to: charge air cooler, heater, and after-run.
