Purpose/Material Description.

This specification covers the properties of an unsaturated polyester low-density sheet molding compound (SMC) that is reinforced with 25 mm glass fibers that are randomly oriented and filled with glass spheres to lower the density.

Symbols.

This specification has two (2) grades of materials, which are characterized by specific gravity.

• UP-GF35-SG1.0 – Material with a nominal density of 1.0 g/cm³.

• UP-GF35-SG1.3 – Material with a nominal density of 1.3 g/cm³.

The material abbreviation according to ISO 11469 is >UP-GF35<. See Section 8 for material coding.

Applicability.

Typical application includes non-class A closure panels and frunks.

Remarks.
