Purpose/Material Description.

This specification covers a foamed hot melt sealer, obtained from an outside source, which will affect a moisture and dust seal when applied in place during manufacturing of weatherstrip channels. The sealer shall be neutral in color, homogeneous, completely resistant to moisture, have good adhesion to rubber weatherstrips and painted steel and have good aging properties. These materials are density reduced (foamed) to approximately 50% of their original density. This foaming process can be achieved by mechanical foaming or by chemical foaming.

The material may not exhibit excessive stringiness during assembly operations. It will be most effective when assembled at temperatures between +15 °C and +35 °C.
