Purpose/Material Description.

The purpose of this standard is to establish test requirements for the release of a gasket paper roll to production.

This gasket material is composed of cellulose fiber and nitrile butadiene binder. It has good tensile strength and crush resistance, and erosion resistance against fluid flow and impingement, and can operate for short durations up to a maximum temperature of 180 °C.

Applicability.

Common applications include automatic transmission valve body, channel plate, and pump.

Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF).

The Gasket Material shall be compatible with specific ATF as specified in the SOR or on detailed part drawing(s). If the ATF is not defined in either of these documents, the ATF per GMW16444 (or GM Part Number 9986153) can be used.
