This specification covers the qualification and performance requirements of one (1) component, high solids (> 48% volume solids as sprayed), solventborne etch resistant monocoat for tutone application to be used over baked one-component (1K) or two-component (2K) clearcoat technology.

Purpose/Material Description.

Each combination of specific monocoat and clearcoat must be tested and approved as a tutone topcoat system. The individual components are not interchangeable. In addition, the monocoat system is part of the total coating system and must meet the requirements as outlined in GMW3005, those set forth in this specification, and on the engineering drawings. Validation testing for plant specific layering, ancillary materials, and processing must be conducted prior to release.

These monocoat are designed for tutone application and are to be applied over baked basecoat/clearcoat topcoat, where the clearcoat can be either a 1K or 2K clearcoat.
