Purpose.
This specification applies to rechargeable global common batteries for original equipment use in all GM global common passenger car and light-duty truck applications worldwide, and it describes their operating requirements. The mission of this document is to list the requirements for automotive Starting, Lighting, and Ignition (SLI) batteries. The battery is part of the vehicle Charging and Energy Storage System.
Note: The term “GM” includes all GM vehicle manufacturers.
