This method described the procedures to be adopted for determining elongation and the stretch-set in an automotive fabric which has stretch characteristics. It has been based on AS 1441.9 which is now obsolete.
A specimen of the coated fabric is suspended vertically between grips. A standard force is applied to the lower edge of the specimen and the resulting extension expressed as a percentage elongation.
The set in the specimen after removing the force is expressed as percentage stretch-set.
