This internal test method for Holden is a general method for measuring the thickness of a dried film (or films) of paint on a painted specimen to an accuracy of ±2µm using microscopic examination of a cross section. It is particularly useful for measuring variations in thickness that occur due to unevenness of the substrate, for example on grit-blasted steel. This test method is based on ISO 2808.
