The materials defined in this specification are soft foams which should have excellent resistance to weather, ultraviolet light and most chemicals. Foams based on EPDM are typically expected to meet the requirements, but other materials may be approved if they conform to the specification.

Type 1 is a closed cell foam and will maintain a water tight seal at a minimum 30 % compression.

Type 2 is a very soft open cell which is suitable as an interface between components that do not require a water seal.

Type 3 is a very soft open cell which is suitable as an interface between components that do not require a water seal. This foam has an adhesive suitable for adhesion to trim fabrics.

All types have a pressure sensitive adhesive on one side. Where no Type is indicated on the drawing, Type 1 will be assumed.
