The purpose of this standard is to establish a generally acceptable standard for test caps and test gates with ABS (Acrylonitrile-Butadiene-Styrene) , PVC (Poly Vinyl Chloride), or rubber couplings with stainless steel band housings. Its purpose is to serve as a guide for producers, distributors, archietects, engineers, contractors, installers, inspectors, and users; to promote understanding regarding materials, manufacture, installation and performance; and to provide a means for identifying test caps with ABS, PVC, or rubber couplings with stainless steel band housings that comply with this standard.
