This Standard covers ball valves in sizes NPS-⅛ to NPS-4, with rated working pressures of at
least 860 kPa (125 psi) at 23 ± 2°C (73 ± 4°F), intended for water supply systems and specifies requirements for materials, physical characteristics, performance testing, and markings.
1.2 The requirements of this Standard are not intended to prevent the use of alternative materials
or methods of construction provided such alternatives meet the intent and requirements of this Standard.
1.3 Proposals for amendments to this Standard will be processed in accordance with the standards
writing procedures of IAPMO.
