This Standard covers wall hydrants with alternate end connections and specifies requirements for materials, physical characteristics, performance tests, and markings.This Standard supplements the provisions of ASME A112.21.3, ASSE 1019, and ASSE 1053 by covering inlet end connections that are not covered in those standards.
The purpose of this Standard is to enhance health and safety by:
(a) specifying acceptable criteria for wall hydrants with alternate end connections to protect health and safety;
(b) serving as a guide for producers, distributors, architects, engineers, contractors, installers, inspectors, and users; and
(c) promoting understanding regarding materials and manufacturing of wall hydrants with alternate end connections.
