IAPMO PS 86-2019 covers flexible elastomeric mechanical fittings for use with plain end drain, waste, and vent (DWV) and plain end sewer (tubular waste) pipe and specifies requirements for materials, physical characteristics, performance testing, and markings.
This Standard covers flexible elastomeric unshielded mechanical fittings used to axially join pipes and fittings in non?pressure drain, waste, and vent (DWV) and tubular waste (sewer) systems inside buildings. Specifically, these devices are designed for installation upstream of the trap, in a readily accessible location, such as under the sink, for installation with rigid 38 mm (1.5 in) sink drain tailpieces, or 38 mm (1.5 in) horizontal branches that connect directly to the sink tailpiece. The products covered under this specification are not intended for use with tub and shower wastes and overflows, rather for use with exposed tailpieces and trap arms.
Fittings covered by this standard are suitable for joining plain end pipes and fittings of the same size and of similar or dissimilar materials.
