This manual provides guidance on a number of air traffic services (ATS) data link applications including automatic dependent surveilance-contract (ADS-C), controller-pilot data link communications (CPDLC), the provision, via data link, of data link flight information services (DFIS) as well as material pertaining to data link initiation capability (DLIC) and ATS interfacility data communication (AIDC). This guidance material is considered part of the evolutionary process of the development and implementation of data link-related technology in support of global harmonization and standard ization of data link-based air traffic control systems.
